Little Tree Studios Displays Artwork from International Community School

Students from the Avondale charter school exhibit weaving, puppets, self portraits and other artwork

Get a glimpse into the International Community School through students’ artwork at Little Tree Art Studios in Avondale Estates.

Walls and ceilings are graced with diverse works of art from students including multi-media self-portraits, weavings, puppets, handmade vests and stuffed animals at the gallery located at 2834 Franklin St.

“It’s really looking spectacular,” said Bob Means, owner of Little Tree Art Studios.

The showcase of artwork introduces the diverse population of students from more than 40 countries who collectively speak 25 languages and in many of the homes; the most fluent English-speaker is the student.

ICS, is a tuition-free DeKalb County public charter school serving 400 Kindergarten to 6th graders. The curriculum is taught within the framework of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and enrollment is awarded by lottery. Students employ an inquiry-based approach to learning and art, music and physical education are a part of regular instruction.

The exhibit opens March 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Little Tree Art Studios and will run through March 26.
