Unveiling the Menaboni - at Brick Store Pub

The DeKalb History Center’s Menaboni has a new temporary home and Brick Store Pub is hosting a fundraiser to celebrate!  This event is the start of their 15th year anniversary week.

Brick Store Pub will feature several passed appetizers including: sausage & grit cakes & their locally famous pimento cheese toasts. They will also offer a hand-carved 16 month Brick Store Pub aged country ham.  They will have many special beers on tap; including an exclusive tapping of 2010 Dogfish Head Bitches Brew. This beer was brewed in honor of the 40th Anniversary of Miles Davis' 1970 release of the same name.

Music will be provided by Joe Gransden Trio. Renowned first for the hard bop approach of his trumpet, Gransden's singing voice has been compared to that of Chet Baker & Frank Sinatra. Joe has played all over the world but fortunately for us he calls Decatur home.

And finally, you can be the first to see the DeKalb History Center's Athos Menaboni mural in its new location. Commissioned by Mills B. Lane in 1958, this unique eggshell mural has graced the walls of two banks. Now on loan to Brick Store Pub, the 27-foot mosaic depicts the biblical verse, "Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." It will be unveiled at this party.

Reservations can be made through the DeKalb History Center but are limited.  Call 404-373-1088, extension 22 for availability. Reservations are $40 per person or $75 for a couple and will be held at the door. Limit 2 tickets per purchaser.  All proceeds benefit the DeKalb History Center.
