Porcelain by Heather Knight

MudFire Gallery eagerly presents a collection of new work by clay wundergirl Heather Knight. Think cool, quiet, and refined . . . we're talking the pottery here . . . and occasionally dangerous.

We'll kick it off with a little opening Knight party on May 21 from 5-9pm. The show will continue on display through June 18, 2010 at MudFire Gallery, 175 Laredo Drive, Decatur, GA 30030. All work in the show is available for sale and can be seen at http://www.mudfire.com/heather-knight-solo-2011.htm

Heather's work is focused on a nearly all-white color pallette, allowing her to call attention to the brilliance of the clay, and narrowing the viewers attention to texture and form. Her work is alive with rhythm and repetition, creating the illusion of movement as light and shadow play alongside each other. Sea creatures are a dominant motif, with urchins, anemones, corals, and shells serving as major sources of inspiration. The occasional splash of color adds variety, energy, and delight to the show.

The show includes a large number of tabletop vessel forms, sculptural pods, and textured wall tiles. The work is quiet and sublime, at times still with a piercing danger, and otherwise inviting exploration through countless shadowy passages to the deeper interior.
