Free film screening: Walmart-The High Price of Low Cost-

The proposed Walmart at Suburban Plaza (intersection of N. Decatur and Scott Blvd. in Decatur) got this far by moving under the radar.  Now many are beginning to voice their concern and opposition: traffic, destruction of local businesses, net job loss, removal of money from the community, exploitation of workers, shift of tax burden (health care, etc.) to local taxpayers.  Here are four opportunities to learn more, express your opinion and connect with others:

Public hearing on parking variance sought by Selig Enterprises for Walmart at Suburban Plaza

 

At a previous neighborhood meeting, Selig Enterprises stated that no zoning changes are required for them to build a Walmart to Suburban Plaza.  The only change needed is approval for a parking plan with fewer than the required number of parking spaces.

Every DeKalb resident has 2 commisioners: a district commisioner (Jeff Rader represents District 2 around Suburban Plaza) and a Super Commissioner (Kathie Gannon represents "Super District”  6 which is the western half of DeKalb, including Suburban Plaza).
