CAPTURE YOUR PET'S HEART THIS VALENTINE'S DAY - Pet Portraits at the Decatur Family Y

Pet Portraits at the Decatur Family Y

William David Creative Design & Photography and the Decatur Family YMCA are presenting a Pet Portrait Picture Drive Saturday, February 4, 2012. Pet owners will receive a portrait with their pet taken by professional photographer Bill Reichardt. Reichardt and Debbie Mursch (Happy Bones Pet Sitting) are volunteering time and talent to the project in support of the Decatur Family Y's Partner With Youth annual campaign. Each portrait is $25 and will go directly to Partner With Youth, which gives children and families an opportunity to participate in Y programs regardless of their ability to pay.

"People love their pets, and what better way to show it than to have a photo taken of them, especially in time for Valentine's Day?" Reichardt says. "We will deliver the finished product digitally, and pet owners can print them out, store them on their computers or even apply them to T-shirts or greeting cards."

The Pet Portrait Picture Drive will be open for 15-minute appointments February 4 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (see schedule) at the Decatur Y, 1100 Clairemont Avenue. Appointments must be made in advance and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. "This event will provide a great opportunity for people to contribute to the Y's worthy cause, Partner With Youth, and get an awesome portrait of their pet," says Safiyah Pankey, the Y staff member who is coordinating this event.
