Eagle Eye, Cakes & Ale Pastry Chef in Atlanta Mag's 'Best Of' Issue

The magazine's annual edition also made note of Write Club and (though it's not in Decatur) Eddie Owens Presents at the Red Clay Theatre.

Decatur earned a few mentions in Atlanta magazine's annual Best Of Atlanta edition. All the info hasn't been posted online yet, but Patch blew 99 cents to access the the digital edition.

  • The Eagle Eye Book Shop earned kudos as the Best Indie Bookstore. The magazine says, "Decatur has a gem in Eagle Eye Bookshop. Here you can find friendy, helpful guidance through the stacks of new and used books, get a fair price for your old trophy tomes, and frequently see authors read and sign their works."
  • One of three Rising Star Pastry Chefs was Eric Wolitzky of Cakes & Ale, who came from Baked in Brooklyn early this year. Wolitzky was already well known in the pastry world, having appeared on Top Chefs: Just Desserts. The others were Pamela Moxley of Miller Union and Andrea Litvin of The Spence.
  • For Best Lit event, the Write Club was one of two mentioned. It's "storytelling as performance-art smackdown" on the second Wednesday of each month at the PushPush Theatre at East Decatur Station. The other Lit Event was True Stories!
  • Eddie Owen Presents at the Red Clay Theatre in Duluth was named the Best New Music Venue Outside the Perimeter. Owen, of course, is the namesake for Eddie's Attic in Decatur, though he's no longer affiliated with that establishment.
