Weekend Planner: Baptist Yard Sale, Holistic Moms, In-Store Singer, Roxie Watson, Steampunk Puppets

Don't just sit around this weekend -- get out and do something.

When/where: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, June 7 and 8, and 8 a.m. to about 4 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at the First Baptist Church of Decatur, 308 Clairemont Ave. Decatur, GA 30030.

Why go: For starters, it's remarkable how much stuff you'll see on the church lawn. The church youth group has organized everything into categories, such as sofas, bike helmets, kitchen equipment, cookie tins, etc. The yard sale is for a good cause: youth activities at the church.

Price: It's free to look. The stuff doesn't cost much.

Why go: A Decatur/ Intown Atlanta chapter of the national non-profit The Holistic Moms Network is forming. You can meet other parents interested in holistic health and green living. Children are welcome. For information, go to www.decaturga.holisticmoms.org.

When/where: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at Decatur CD, 356 West Ponce de Leon Ave., Decatur, GA 30030.

Why go: Watkins used to play with Nickel Creek and then released some solo albums. She's toured with The Decemberists, too. Her latest record is Sun Midnight Sun.

Price: Free to listen.

Roxie Watson at Eddie's Attic

When/where: Shows at 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at Eddie's Attic, 515 N. McDonough St., Decatur GAΒ  30030.

Why go: Roxie Watson is a five-piece string band from Atlanta and Decatur that mixes elements of old country, Appalachian music, hymns and bluegrass without adhering to the traditions of one genre. They recently released their second CD, Milestones and Moonpies.

Price: Advance general admission, $15. You can buy them online. At the door, $18.

When/where: 8 p.m. Saturday, June 9, and Sunday, June 10, at the , 119 Center St., Avondale Estates, GA 30002.

Why go: "The Game is Afoot" follows the adventures of Grippen Meyer and his sidekick Dr. Basil Parsley Sage Rosemary Thyme as they fight evil, gravity, and those who would do in the modern Victorian Steampunk England! The theatre says this puppet show is good for the whole family.

Price: $9.99 in advance, $15 at the door.
