UPDATE: Weather Holds for Tour deCatur Runners, Trotters

More than 1,700 pre-registered for the annual event

The weather held for the ninth annual Tour deCatur with more than 1,700 runners pre-registered for the Saturday race supporting the Decatur Education Foundation.

Runners began and finished the race at l.

Initial results for the 1K run: Overall winner and First place male, Everest Barfield, 12, is a Decatur resident from Woodward Academy. Overall female winner was Caroline Moss, 9, a Decatur resident from Glennwood Academy.

For the 5K: Overall male winner is Jonathon Corso of Decatur, with a time of 17:19. Overall female winner is Christine Carlton of Decatur, with a time of 19:46. 

The rain held off until just after The Tot Trot when a light drizzle suddenly turned into a heavy downpour. Race participants, spectators and others involved with the Tour deCatur quickly scattered when the rain came.

The Decatur Education Foundation has worked with local children since 2001. Through grants, scholarships and other donated funds, the foundation works to help children realize their full potential, not just in the classroom but also through learning experiences that contribute to personal development.
