On The Same Page Shoe Auction and Shoe Drive

Through Saturday, November 3rd

Little Shop of Stories

133A East Court Square, Decatur

Who wants stinky smelly old sneakers? You might—if they belonged to the unstoppable Chipper Jones! Following the example of baseball legend Clyde “Sweet Feet” Livingston in Holes, the Atlanta Braves have generously donated sneakers for On The Same Page to auction off! You can be the proud owner of a pair of cleats worn by Chipper Jones, Freddie Freeman, Tommy Hanson or Kris Medlen.

On The Same Page is hosting a web auction on eBay running from Thursday, October 25th through Saturday, November 3rd. You can stop by Little Shop to see these humongous shoes in person. All proceeds will benefit Our House, a child care and support center for homeless families, as well as On The Same Page.

In conjunction, On The Same Page is hosting a shoe drive to benefit Our House. Please bring new and gently used shoes to Little Shop of Stories, 133A East Court Square in Decatur, before November 3rd to be given to families at Our House. This is a great opportunity to give back to our community and just another way that we gain inspiration from this year’s book selection.

A Season of Giving/Christmas Decatur

A Season of Giving/Christmas Decatur is now in the 18th year of this community volunteer initiative of neighbors helping neighbors. This program is a grassroots volunteer effort to have caring neighbors and community members help low-income children and senior citizens enjoy the holidays.  Last year, contributors made the holidays brighter for over 600 children and senior citizens.

Here are the ways you can help:

  • Have a Wish List sent to you and buy gifts for a specific child or senior.  Spend approximately $100.  You will receive a list of items with specific sizes and wishes.  If a child needs a warm winter coat, please make that your first purchase.  We want every child to receive a book.  If you purchase your book at Little Shop of Stories, they will donate 20% of your purchase to A Season of Giving/Christmas Decatur. Please bring your wish list with you.
  • Send a check and one of our volunteers will do the shopping.  Make the check in any amount payable to A Season of Giving/Christmas Decatur and mail it to A Season of Giving/Christmas Decatur g, P.O. Box 220, Decatur, GA  30031. Any amount is appreciated.
  • Volunteer in our distribution center between December 1 and December 8. There are opportunities for those who are familiar with children’s clothing and toys to help us check the gifts. Volunteer opportunities also include logging the gifts in and out and helping to organize the gifts.

Consider working with your neighbors, co-workers, club, or other organization to purchase gifts.  Gifts are due on December 1 – only weeks away! Thank you so much for your support of this important program to our community. For more information or to have wish list(s) sent to you, please email aseasonofgiving@decaturga.com or leeann.harvey@decaturga.com or call (404) 378-8068.
