Boy Scout Troop 175 out of the Decatur First United Methodist Church has just awarded the rank of Eagle Scout to Robby Jackson and Austin Jones.  The Eagle Rank is the highest rank in Scouting and is earned only after completing 21 Merit badges and an Eagle Project in the community.

Robby, the son of Cody and Diane Jackson, will be a senior at St. Pius X next year.  Robby's Eagle project was the construction of  composting bins at St. Thomas More, which reduce the cost of waste removal and produces a ready supply of compost for church beautification projects.

Austin, the son of Robert and Jana Jones is a 2012 graduate from St. Pius X and will attend Southern Polytechnic State University where he will major in chemistry.  Austin's Eagle project was the design, construction and installation of name tag holders at four different locations at Hands for Hire in Tucker.

Troop 175 was chartered in 1943 and counts, in its over two hundred Eagles, many of the leaders and fine citizens in Decatur and Georgia. Andy Beach is the Scoutmaster. The Troop meets every Tuesday night during the school year at the Scout Hut behind Glennwood Elementary.
