Nicki Salcedo and Jennifer McQuiston are finalists in their categories.

Decatur residents Nicki Salcedo and Jennifer McQuiston are finalists for the Romance Writers of America's Golden Heart awards.

Salcedo is a finalist in the contemporary single title category for All Beautiful Things. She has written for Decatur Patch. Find out more about her at her website, www.8headedhydra.com.

McQuiston wrote A Private Affair, which is in the historical romance category. Find out more about her at her webpage at www.jenmcquiston.com.

According to a story in USA Today about the RITA and Golden Heart awards,

The RITA is to published romance novelists what the Oscar is to actors. This year, more than 1,200 novels and novellas competed in 12 categories judged by published romance novelists. The Golden Heart honors outstanding work by (so far) unpublished authors.

The awards will be presented at the Romance Writers of America 32nd annual annual conference in July in Anaheim, Calif.

Thanks for the kind words! Jenni just signed a three (3!!!) book deal with Avon so I highly recommend you check her out. Everyone should read historical romance, especially from the lovely Ms. McQuiston. She is a CDC genius and if you see her around town, tell her congrats!
