Team Decatur Event Set for Thursday

Event kicks off 'Get Active' program

The City of Decatur Active Living and Kaiser Permanente are kicking off an eight-week "Get Active" program on Thursday, July 28, on the Decatur square.

The KP Corporate Run/Walk 5K Kick-Off event runs 6 pm-8 pm.

The “Get Active” program includes a free, eight-week fitness plan. Thursday's event will offer attendees an opportunity to visit with health and fitness businesses and professionals.

There also will be information on how to sign up for the KP Corporate Run/Walk 5K to be held Thursday, September 8, as well as information on free training runs and walks around the city for Team Decatur members.

Former Olympian Jeff Galloway and Decatur Mayor Bill Floyd will also be on hand.

In 2010, the city and Decatur Active Living collaborated with the Decatur Business Association to form Team Decatur, a group of community and business members, to participate in the annual KP Corporate Run/Walk. Team Decatur had more than 140 members who trained for eight weeks to run or walk in the 5K race.
