Publix Georgia Marathon Brings Runners Through Decatur

City of Decatur attracts sizeable cheering section, which included a live band and lots of pom poms

The Publix Georgia Marathon brought out thousands of runners and a sizable cheering section for the City of Decatur.

Decaturites donned their green colors, waved pom poms, and played musical instruments. There was also a D.J., and lots of music coming from  water station. 

The City of Decatur has a history of participating in the Georgia Marathon Neighborhood Challenge, which encourages neighborhoods along the race course to set up zones to cheer on race participants. The City of Decatur has won more than $15,000 in prize money for fitness initiatives, since they began cheering on marathoners.
