Global Growers Network to Launch CSA Program

A Community Supported Agriculture 12-week program is set to start soon.

Global Growers Network, which is a part of Refugee Family Services, is preparing to launch a 12-week Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program with a pick-up spot in Decatur.

The summer CSA program offers a weekly batch of produce. In exchange, members agree to invest in the farm where the produce is grown. The batches could include in-season produce like tomatoes, sweet peppers, cucumbers, summer squash, hot peppers, eggplants, green beans, cherry tomatoes, long beans and okra, depending on what's freshest and best that week.

Global Growers staff, farmers and producers will harvest this produce from three sources:

  • Umurima Wa Burundi (Burundi Women's Farm)
  • Bamboo Creek Farm (Stone Mountain)
  • Decatur's Kitchen Garden

Pick-ups will be at the Decatur Farmer's Market on Wednesdays starting July 11 and running through September 26. There is also a Sunday pickup at the Clarkston Community Center starting July 8 and going through to September 24.

Membership in the CSA will cost $300 for a non-work share or $270 for a work share. Payment is accepted by cash, check or money order. The deadline to reserve a membership is June 29. Please email angela@globalgrowers.net for more details on membership and payment.
