Get Out: Weekend Planner

Attend a beer tasting or take part in a radiothon this weekend.

Where/When: Across from City Hall on South Avondale Road, Avondale Estates, Saturday, October 15, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. & Sunday, October 16, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Why go: There will be live music, an artist market, food, drink and fun for kids. Some of the performances include: Poet Kodac Harrison, The Buggs and Adron. For the children there will be a “Reptile Wagon” that will have cobras and alligators. Some of the sponsors include Waffle House, Savage Pizza and The Little Wine Shop.

ATTEND A BEER TASTING

Where/When: , 111 Sycamore St., Decatur, Thursday, October 13, begins at 7:30 p.m.

Why go: Jon Lundbom from B. United International will host the exploration of distilled beers that will include Reissdorf Koelsch and Reissdorf Bierbrand, Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Schnapps and more.

GET IN ON A RADIOTHON TO RAISE MONEY

Where/When: , 321 W. Hill St., Decatur, Thursday, October 13 & October 14, 5 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Why go: Thursday and Friday morning, get over to The Solarium at Historic Scottish Rite in Oakhurst for Por Los Ninos Hispanic Radiothon, benefitting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. La Raza 102.3/Pop 100.1 FM and La Mega 96.5 FM will work it to raise funds needed for this cause. Listeners will learn how to make donations and hear the stories of CHOA patients. TAKE PART IN A RAMBLERS TALES SHOW

Where/When: Porter Sanford Performing Arts Center, 3181 Rainbow Dr., Decatur, Saturday, October 13, 7 p.m.

Why go: This is a Caribbean standup comedy and variety show, with live music. There will be Caribbean food available for purchase and this is the third time this show has come to town. Performers this year include: Drew Thomas, Nigel “Frame” Fabien, Fatman George and Nikki Crosby.

Pricing: $20 per ticket

 

HEAR AMY LAVERE PLAY EDDIE’S ATTIC

Where/When: , 515 N. McDonough St., Decatur, Sunday, October 16, 7:30 p.m.

Why go: Amy LaVere’s release of the third album, “Stranger Me” comes after a break up with a long-term love relationship and music collaborator and the death of a mentor, and the album shows her new confidence in performing.

Pricing: $12 in advance/$15 at the door/$60 for a reserved table that seats 4.
