Why go: Wear your best city chic to “Uplift Africa,” Pan Africana Fashion Show. The cocktail reception begins at 6 p.m., with the runway show starting promptly at 7 p.m. There will be a raffle and gift bags, but the real deal is helping to raise funds and empower women beyond borders.

CELEBRATE BELGIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY IN DECATUR

Why go: Who doesn’t want to Feestdag Belgian Independence Day? Enjoy it in Decatur this year!

CHECK OUT THE PAWS ATLANTA ADOPTION FAIR

Where/When: PAWS Atlanta, 5287 Covington Hwy, Decatur, Sunday,  July 24, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Why go: As a no-kill shelter serving all of Metro Atlanta, all animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped and current on all vaccinations. BONUS: Every adopter will receive a wonderful "goody bag" of pet supplies from our partners in the pet community.

MAKE BEADS INTO ACCESSORIES AT THE LIBRARY

Why go: Get your young folks out of the heat and into the library to work with beads to make bracelets and all kinds of other bling. Ages 10 – 17 are appropriate for this event.
