Get Out: Weekend Planner

Choose which walk/run to get going with, learn more about your kids and their digital safety, help set a world record or, think global/act local.

Where/When: , 310 N. McDonough St., Decatur, on Tuesday, April 26 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Why go: Isn’t it time we all learned more about how to protect our children online? Come hear Hoke Wilcox, an instructional technology specialist from the Educational Technology Center at Kennesaw University. Every parent who attends will receive, “NetCetera: Chatting with Kids about Being Online." 3. BEAT THE STREET FOR LITTLE FEAT

Where/When: Coan Park, 1520 Woodbine Ave., SE, Atlanta on Saturday, April 23. The 5K begins at 8 a.m., 1 mile: 8:45 a.m., Fun Run: 9 a.m.

Why go: The family friendly event benefits the Oakhurst Cooperative Preschool. Hurry up and register: the deadline is Thursday, April 21. This family friendly race goes through the historic neighborhoods of Edgewood and Kirkwood and will be followed by a post-race childrens party and runner expo located at Coan Park.

4. PARTICIPATE IN THE GREAT CLOTH DIAPER EXCHANGE & SET A WORLD RECORD

Where/When: , 185 Sams St., Decatur on Saturday, April 23 at 11 a.m.

Why go: This event, organized by the Real Diaper Association, hopes to raise the awareness about the benefits of using cloth diapers by attempting to set a Guinness World Record for the most cloth diapers changed at one time. Come out and help set the world’s record!

5. THINK GLOBAL/ACT LOCAL: A BENEFIT FOR JAPAN & ACTOR’S EXPRESS

Where/When: , 119 Center St., in Avondale Estates on Saturday, April 23 at 8 p.m.

Why go: Headlining this group of performers is The Prestige. The event will raise money for Japan & Actor's Express. There will be music, art, prizes and more.
