Burlesque dancers, 24 hour drama, caring for chickens, Michelle Malone, or a Spring Fling -- no matter your choice, it'll be a great weekend!

1. LEARN THE BASICS OF CHICKEN CARE

Where/When: , 435 Oakview Rd., Decatur, Saturday, March 12, 10 a.m. to 10:5 a.m.

Why go: Kids in the Coop invites children to learn how to pick up, feed and be a keeper of chickens. Anne-Marie Anderson, a.k.a. "The Celtic Gardener" and her 6-year-old daughter will answer questions and help children interact with the chickens.

Pricing: $5 members/$10 non members (parents free).

2. EXPERIENCE THE SOUTHERN FRIED BURLESQUE FEST

Where/When: , 130 Clairemont Ave., Decatur, Thursday, March 10 through Sunday, March 13.

Why go: Burlesque is one of those things most of us don’t admit we want to see, but this weekend, Decatur will be full of dancers and costumes and makeup, so get ready! Indulge your guilty pleasure and learn more about dancing and the dancers who do this for a living.

Pricing: Anywhere from $20 to $200/depending on ticket/packages available.

3. SEE MICHELLE MALONE IN CONCERT

Where/When: , 515-B N. McDonough St., Decatur, Saturday, March 12, two shows - 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Why go: The early show is Malone playing solo, while the later show has her playing with her band.

Pricing: $20 in advance / $22 at the door / $30 for both early & late shows / $100 tables

4. COME HAVE A SPRING FLING!

Where/When: Second Life Thrift Store, 1 N. Clarendon Ave., Avondale Estates, Saturday, March 12, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why go: Support the thrift store sale whose proceeds benefit animal rescue organizations and help combat pet homelessness.

Pricing: Free/varies with purchases. BONUS: Customers who bring a bag of dry dog or cat food (at least 4 lbs) or 4 cans of canned pet food on March 12 or March 13 will receive a coupon for 25 percent off purchases at one future visit (valid March 16 - March 31, 2011).

5. WATCH 100 ARTISTS WRITE, DIRECT AND PERFORM EIGHT SHORT PLAYS IN 24 HOURS

Where/When: Onstage Atlanta, 2597 N. Decatur Rd., Atlanta, Sunday, March 13, starts at 8 p.m.

Why go: Support the arts while attending this event, described as “one of the most popular kamikaze events in Atlanta theatre.” This is how it works (and all within 24 hours!): Writers turn in short plays, casts are chosen from headshots, actors rehearse, then perform the plays – whew!)

Pricing: Tickets are $15. Box office and bar will open at 7pm. There are no reservations  for this event.
