Decatur To Hold Junior Police Academy

Twelve kids will learn about law enforcement July 11-15.

The Decatur Police Department’s will hold its annual Junior Police Academy July 11–15.

The program is designed to educate young people about the functions and duties of the police department. The class includes fun and educational exercises designed to simulate real law enforcement activities.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided each day and participants who successfully complete the academy will receive certificates of completion and T-shirts.

The class is limited to 12 Decatur residents who completed the seventh or eighth grade during the 2010-2011 school year. The course is free and applications may be obtained at the police department or on the police department website. Applications must be submitted to the Decatur Police Department no later than 5 p.m. June 24.
