Cuddly Cassie and Adventuresome DeSoto

They're both a little clumsy, especially for cats.

They both come running when they see you and one or the other might hurl themselves into your arms. They are friendly, they are cuddly and they never seem to meet a stranger.

Cassie and DeSoto, sibling cats who reside in LifeLine Animal Project's no-kill Kitty Motel, almost seem to be two puppies living in the bodies of two sibling cats.

They are waiting for adoption. They approach every person who visits them as a potential pet parent, running to meet visitors and, given a chance, climbing on their shoulder and riding around.

The friendly twosome came to LifeLine as kittens when they were picked up by DeKalb County Animal Control. They were about 6 weeks old, sick and living on the streets. Chances of survival seemed slim but when they got to LifeLine they received treatment, food and medical care.

Nicknamed "the cuddle twins" by staff for their outgoing personalities, the two recovered nicely and have been waiting for adoption for the last six months.

"They are funny," said Shannon Dunagan, LifeLine's clinic receptionist who has helped raise Cassie and DeSoto, "I cannot think of two sweeter cats."

"They are energetic and social," said Mickie Blair, who serves as the field coordinator for the Avondale Estates rescue. "They didn't have the best start in life but they are completely ready for a home now.

"They love everyone, they love each other and they come as a pair," she added.

If you want cats who will come running to greet you, who will purr the minute they lay eyes on you and at least one who, on any given day, might want to ride on your shoulder like parrot, this pair is perfect for you.
