Commissioners Help Raise $3,500 for Pets

Three DeKalb County commissioners recently sponsored an event to benefit the county's pets. Plus, two shelters have adoption deals this month.

DeKalb County commissioners Elaine Boyer, Sharon Barnes Sutton and Stan Watson recently sponsored a bowling party for charity with proceeds going to Avondale Estates' LifeLine Project. LifeLine provides adoptions and lower-cost spaying and neutering services for pets. The three commissioners raised $3,500 for LifeLine.

The bowling event was also put on to bring attention to the county animal shelter, which is and needs . Though the event is over, donations are still welcome at this website.

Also, if you are looking to adopt a pet this week, adoption rates have been reduced to $60 at the county shelter through June 15. Teachers and educators get free adoptions through the rest of June at LifeLine. Plus, yesterday, as part of the national Just One Day initiative, DeKalb County promised to not euthanize a single animal.
