Worthmore Jewelers begins annual care package item collection to benefit U.S. troops through Operation Stars and Stripes

Decatur and Midtown locations to compete for most donations

Local jewelry retailer Worthmore Jewelers will hold its annual care package item collection drive Nov. 1-10 to benefit U.S. troops through the organization Operation Stars and Stripes.

For this year’s drive, Worthmore is pitting its Decatur and Midtown stores against each other to see who can gather the most donations of candy and other supplies. Support the troops and help your neighborhood win by bringing in donations to the Worthmore Decatur Square location (117 East Court Square) starting Nov. 1. All who donate will be entered into a random drawing to win a $50.00 Worthmore Jewelers gift card.

Suggested donation items include: unwanted Halloween candy, toiletries, entertainment items, prepackaged snacks, and warm weather clothes. A full list of items accepted at the drive can be found here: operationstarsandstripes.org/?page_id=33.

Worthmore has been working with the Operation Stars and Stripes organization for the past five years. “These collection drives are a simple way for us to show our troops that we support them and appreciate their sacrifice,” said Harris Botnick, Worthmore founder and owner. “For every care package sent, we have received a heart-warming thank you letter back. Sometimes these packages are the only things our servicemen and women receive all year.”

The Operation Stars and Stripes collection drive will kick off right before another Worthmore charity event taking place on Nov. 2 at the Worthmore Midtown store benefitting Make-A-Wish Georgia. Attendees of the Nov. 2 event are asked to consider bringing care package donation items for the Operation Stars and Stripes drive, as well.
