With two years of fundraising for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign and donations amounting to over $180,000, Ted’s Montana Grill is setting a first-ever goal to connect America’s hungry children with 2 million meals, by raising $200,000* during the restaurant company’s five-week No Kid Hungry event, Aug. 26 – Sept. 29.
September is No Kid Hungry month, and presents an annual opportunity for Ted’s Montana Grill to join the nationwide network of restaurateurs who draw national attention to the crisis of childhood hunger in America. Throughout the event, all 44 Ted’s Montana Grill locations are encouraging guests to donate to the No Kid Hungry campaign by simply circling a donation amount of $1, $5, $10 or more on their receipts.
Now in its sixth year, this national restaurant fundraising event has raised $6 million for the No Kid Hungry campaign. The campaign is ending childhood hunger in this country by connecting kids in need with nutritious food and teaching their families how to cook healthy, affordable meals.
“We’re deeply honored to partner with Share our Strength and to support their work helping make sure every child in this country gets the food he or she needs, every day,” said George W. McKerrow, co-founder and CEO of Ted’s Montana Grill. “We look forward to seeing our guests in our restaurants throughout September and hope they’ll give a little donation, spend a little time with their families, and remember that being hungry is something very painful, but that they can make a difference.”
As recipient of Share Our Strength’s “Restaurateur of the Year” award this year, McKerrow has been an advocate of the nonprofit for more than 15 years and was recently named a co-chairman for this year's No Kid Hungry campaign, along with John Miller, CEO of Denny's. "The healthier our children are, the better their education is. And the better their education, the better chance they have to lift themselves up to realize all their dreams and overall become an important part of the health and well-being of our society," he added.
Donations are also being accepted now through the end of the year at www.nokidhungry.org/tedsmontanagrill.
*This amount was determined on the basis that $1 can help connect a child with up to 10 nutritious meals, which is, in turn, based on the individual experiences of Share Our Strength’s grant recipients. It is provided to illustrate how community investments can be used to help end childhood hunger. Each contribution made to Share Our Strength represents a contribution to its original mission. Donations will be used to reach the highest number of children facing hunger in America. Share Our Strength is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.
