CORE hosts next Salon event, Sept. 19 on the Decatur Square

CORE is proud to host regular "Salon" events — interactive practice performances held in a creative and convivial atmosphere, which aim to promote discussions about dance works currently in-process.

This month’s Salon — “Get on the Good Foot” — will be held on Sept. 19, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., on the Decatur Square. Tickets are required, free, and limited. They can be reserved at: https://coredance.secure.force.com/ticket/#details_a0SA000000CQj12MAD.

In partnership with the Rialto Center, “Salon - Get on the Good Foot” is inspired by acclaimed Artistic Director Otis Sallid’s upcoming performance “James Brown: Get on the Good Foot, a Celebration in Dance” which will be presented in full this November at the Rialto Center for the Arts at Georgia State University.

Sallid’s work will shed light on James Brown's worldwide influence intermingled with the rich history of the Apollo Theater. The show will be set to the greatest tunes of legendary soul and funk icon, James Brown. A national tour is in the works to follow the world premier.

CORE Artistic Director Sue Schroeder says they hope this Salon will highlight the conversational nature of Sallid’s dance work. “Ultimately, we want to extend an invitation to the Atlanta community to join this conversation,” said Schroeder. “Dance works are a process, and we want our community to be a part of that process.”
