Community Update

Some people
move to Decatur, GA and buy a home and are content. Some people have been here
for a long time. Some care about old history and others care less. Some people
want to know about the area and some just want to get on with their lives. I
wrote a book for everybody, and it only took me 15 years to do it.

Some people
just want to be entertained, while others sincerely want to know old history.
There is a fine line to satisfy these folks. Some folks will like my book and
others will find it a waste of time, so there is a tightrope to be walked.

The name of
my book is, “Paradise in Olde Decatur.” 
No one has ever written anything like it. I doubt anyone ever will. You
had to be there. This is an old book about old people that probably used to
farm the land where many houses or businesses stand now. Some of the houses are
still standing. I know where they are, and I placed pictures in this book. You
can see them today.

It’s book about
old farming and old dairymen. It’s a book about old time Decatur, when the
Atlantic Ice and Coal delivered door to door. You took a piece of cardboard and
wrote what you wanted and placed it in the window, then they would bring in the
ice for the ice box, or deliver the coal for heating.

This book is
about old time families and how they survived. It is about the old time places
they went for fun. It is old stories about growing up on a farm. It is old
Dekalb cops and the Methodist Children’s Home.

The subjects
and stories never end. Its 440 pages and over 330 pictures of history, much
never before recorded. It’s a big book.  It took 15 years to write and covers 150 years
of old time history.
