February 10, 4:30-6pm $10 Wylde Center Member, $15 Non Member. Robby Astrove of Concrete Jungle will discuss starting an orchard at home, community gardens, schools, and other public spaces. Timed for the end of the planting season, Robby will share about suitable species for the urban environment and where to get them before the season ends, planting technique, and winter pruning.  This is a hands-on class and you will get to plant fruit trees at the Oakhurst Garden. Bring a flash light or head lamp. 5 person minimum. Advanced registration required.

Established in 1997, The Oakhurst Community Garden of the Wylde Center offers a wide range of classes, programs and special events for individuals, families and youth on such topics as organic gardening, sustainable urban living, nutrition and health. Its popular youth program is one of the metro-area’s largest and offers year-round educational programs. The two on-site gardens serve as gathering spaces, wildlife habitats and demonstration gardens. To get involved, be sure to sign up for a class or become a volunteer or a member.
