What Would You Improve in Decatur, Avondale Estates in 2013?

If you could make a New Year's resolution for Decatur and Avondale Estates, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family and many say they will try to save money.

As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in Decatur and Avondale Estates to make them even better places to live?

Local governments and nonprofits have ideas. The City of Decatur wants to annex property. Avondale Estates wants to revitalize its downtown. The DeKalb Rape Crisis Center is seeking money to stay afloat.

What's on your wish list for Decatur and Avondale Estates? Would you like to see the streets cleaner, the grass cut more often in the parks, more computers in the public library, traffic lights removed or added, more police officers hired, more craft beer bars, better day-care centers, a new tenant for the James Joyce?

What is one thing you would improve in 2013?

Tell us in the comment section below about why you love living here!

I would like a safe bike trail from Avondale Estates straight down East College to meet up with the trail in Decatur, and a pedestrian / bike bridge from AE to the library over Memorial.

Maureen, those are great ideas. Biking is not always easy around here.

I'd like to see a few left turn lights when you're heading east on E. College, like at N. McDonough, S. Candler, Columbia Dr./Commerce intersections.
