Tyler Perry Filming Scenes in Decatur Public Housing
The movie maker is shooting "Single Moms Club" at the Allen Wilson Apartments.
Filmmaker Tyler Perry was shooting scenes Tuesday for his new movie, "Single Moms Club," at the Allen Wilson Apartments in Decatur.
Trucks and trailers lined Electric Avenue near the Community Resource Center and a catering station had been set up in the parking lot behind nearby Lilly Hill Baptist Church. Perry has a city permit to shoot on Wednesday, too.
On Monday, Perry directed scenes at the Waffle House on East College Avenue in Avondale Estates. He has a permit to shoot for 10 days there.
Imogene Mosley, a resident of Allen Wilson Apartments, said Tuesday she was happy to see the activity.
"I love it," she said. "It's good for the community."
Her friend, Patrenia Winston-Scott, came to visit from Grand Rapids, Mich., and was surprised to discover the movie was being made. She saw Tyler Perry walk by and called out to him, but he didn't respond.
"He's not as tall as I thought he was," she said.
The website www.movieweb.com says the movie is about single mothers forced to come together after an incident at their children's school. The movie will star Perry, Nia Long, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Zulay Henao and William Levy
Lionsgate will distribute the movie, which is expected in theaters May 9, 2014.
Katie Abel at Decatur City Hall said Perry has permits to shoot Wednesday in Decatur and may seek permits for more days.

I would tell him that his movies are dumb, he is extremely overrated and the only reason he has a billion dollars is because a bunch of idiot black people like watching other idiot black people. Talent-less hack. When I think of all the great movies that are made, with tremendous writing and acting, how this man can even have a modicum of respect in the entertainment industry id beyond me. Or is it that most people feel like me but won't say anything?
