Protesters Show Anti-Walmart Feeling

A developer plans to build the big box store at Suburban Plaza.

About 25 people braved the drizzle late Friday afternoon to stage a protest against .

They stood on the corners of Scott Boulevard and North Decatur Road starting at 4:30 p.m. and held up placards inviting rush-hour motorists to honk if they didn’t like Walmart. A good number of drivers cooperated.

Selig Enterprises wants to remodel the aging shopping center just outside the Decatur City Limits and bring in new stores, including a Super Walmart. Some residents have complained, saying the store would increase traffic and cause other problems.
