Will you bank at the Private Bank of Decatur?

FDIC moved my Decatur First Bank assets to Fidelity Bank. I'm still wondering how a "community bank" got involved with risky real estate loans in another part of the state. Would Ms. Turner like to comment on that?

Will I bank there? Probably not, if Pvt Bank of Decatur is organized on the same plan of business as its predecessor, which went under during the erstwhile banking crisis. Just prior to that I was looking for a bank and I made an appointment at the Buckhead Bank (one of the banks that comprised the "Private Bank"'s predecessor. There were no tellers. the banking floor was tiny, and the officer with whom I met told me they were in businesses only to make loans, and the tellers' windows were for occasional cash transactions for customers, but most transactions were done by phone or by an officer going to the customer's home or office. This sounds to me like investment bankers, and is too high flying for me. What I need is retail banking services, good customer service, tellers on duty when I need to do transactions and low cost leans if and when I need them, whether I'm made of money or not. Judy Turner is presently listed as an employee of the Private Bank of Buckhead until the Decatur facility opens. I haven't talked to her yet, but plan to call her for comment. Does anybody else know exactly what kind of banking and what clientelle this Private Bank of Decatur is planning for?

"If at first you don't succeed".......Folks, I'm gonna take up for Ms. Judy Turner. It's people like her that have built "America, the greatest country on the face of the earth"....small businesses have taken an unfair hit by someone who has never even, as one news commentator said......"run a candy store". The government doesn't build businesses, individuals like Ms. Turner builds businesses. Did the government build all the thriving businesses in Decatur? No, it was a whole lot of blood, sweat and tears, second mortgages, money borrowed from relatives, friends, We should all applaud folks like Ms. Turner. GO Judy, I hope you make a billion dollars.

I would like to comment to "taxus". When DFB went into the Lake Oconee area to offer them the same community banking experience that we offered in Decatur, it was a thriving community and our loans were not considered risky. Unfortunately, the real estate crisis hit that area hard. People lost their jobs, real estate values decreased, businesses failed. Good, successful, hard-working people found they could no longer pay their loans. As for who Private Bank of Decatur will serve: We believe all customers deserve the private banking approach that other banks often reserve for only a select few. We bring that high-touch service to al customers, and I hope you will give us a try. While our Decatur location is not open yet, we're already serving Decatur, and we're happy to come to you, if that's what it takes. Judy Turner
