The good times flowed at the Craft Beer and Root Beer festivals.
About 4,000 people poured into the Decatur Court Square Saturday afternoon for the Decatur Craft Beer Festival.
Armed with souvenir glasses bearing the festival logo, the festival-goers had about 100 beers to sample. The $40-per-person tickets were sold online and were snapped up very quickly.
Meanwhile, the very first Decatur Root Beer Festival was held at the Little Shop of Stories. For $5, kids and adults got to sample about a dozen root beers and sodas. Proceeds will go toward the On The Same Page citywide reading project.

I'm getting old, Ralph. I looked at half of the people there and thought, "how could they be 21?" Most, if not all, of the proceeds from the beer festival go to local charities, too.

The Decatur Beer Festival is pretty diverse in terms of age and other demographics. If you volunteer you have a chance to talk to lots of people. We had so much fun pouring beer today. Thanks to the organizers and volunteers. Everyone was polite and happy, and it wasn't just the beer talking when attendees said how much they love Decatur!

You are right, Nicki. I really enjoyed volunteering again this year and meeting so many happy people.
