Opening Ceremony Tuesday at Decatur Rec
The ribbon-cutting in the remodeled building will be held at 8:30 a.m., followed by guided tours at 9 and 10 a.m. and 12:30 and 7 p.m.
After being closed almost two years for remodeling, the Decatur Recreation Center will reopen to the public on Tuesday, Feb. 5.
The ribbon cutting will take place at 8:30 a.m., followed by guided tours at 9 and 10 a.m. and 12:30 and 7 p.m. The rec center is at 231 Sycamore St., next to the Decatur Library.
The rec center has a new gym floor, an elevated running track and expanded meeting rooms, studios and classrooms. The renovation, which cost about $6 million, started in the spring of 2011.
The gym will be named after Bill Floyd, the long-time mayor who stepped down Jan. 7 after more than 20 years on the city commission.
