Update: CSX says the work was postponed and will start on Tuesday, Jan. 15, with the road blocked through Friday.

The previous story: Laredo Road, a heavily used cut-through in Avondale Estates, will be closed this week for repairs at the railroad crossing.

The road is often used by people driving from Avondale Estates to Your DeKalb Farmers Market.

City hall sent out this information:

Beginning Monday, January 14th at 7:00 a.m. through Friday, January 18th, Laredo Drive will be closed to through traffic between Wells St. and Pine St. to allow the CSX Railroad to perform crossing repairs on the main CSX line and the MARTA switch.

Road closure signs will be posted advising motorists of construction activities in the area and of local traffic restrictions.  Questions regarding this road closure should be addressed to Mr. John Phares, CSX Switch Master,  770-696-3224.
