Laptops, TV Reported Stolen

Decatur police are investigating several burglaries.

Decatur police are investigating several burglaries and thefts. This information is based on reports provided by police.

A Dell G500 laptop worth about $300 was reported stolen the night of Oct. 25 from an apartment in the 700 block of Oakview Road. The resident told police he left his residence through an unsecured door about 7:50 p.m. and returned about 8 p.m. to find the computer gone.  The laptop was in a docking station on a table.

 A resident of the 600 block of Sycamore Drive reported Oct. 24 that a 42-inch flat screen television and a laptop computer were stolen from his house. The man said he came home about 4 p.m. and found the carport door kicked in.  The television was valued at $500, the Black Presario C700 laptop at $150.

 Saba Restaurant on Mead Road was burglarized the night of Oct. 16 or the morning of Oct. 17. Reported stolen were $430 in cash, six bottles of liquor, a HP mini computer worth $200 and a power saw and another tool worth about $250. File cabinet drawers had been opened and a crowbar that didn’t belong to the restaurant was left on a chair. It appeared the business was entered through a broken window.

 On Oct. 15, a resident in the 200 block of East Parkwood Road told police her diamond ring worth $40,000 had been stolen from her jewelry drawer in the bedroom closet. The resident said she had been out of town and last saw the ring Sept. 7. Police saw no signs of forced entry to the residence or jewelry drawer  and that no other jewelry was taken. The residents said their daughter stayed at the house Sept. 23-25 and may have had friends over.
