Free Snow Day Camp Planned Friday

City of Decatur residents get a break but camp is limited to 80 and on a first come, first served basis

With many workplaces calling their employees back to work, the City Schools of Decatur has a solution - at least for those who live within the city limits - now that Friday is another snow day.

They're hosting a snow day camp at the City of Decatur Recreation Center on Sycamore Street. The best part: camp is free.

Linda Harris of the City of Decatur economic development department said camp is on for children in Kindergarten to 8th grade.

The details from Harris:

Snow Day Camp at Decatur Recreation Center - 231 Sycamore Street - Friday January 14

Attention City of Decatur Parents:  If City Schools of Decatur close on Friday January 14, City of Decatur residents may enroll children Kindergarten through 8th grade for a Snow Day Camp at the Decatur Recreation Center, 231 Sycamore Street, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to spend the day with Children and Youth Services staff.  Enrollment will be first-come starting at 9:00 a.m. and limited to the first 80.  Activities will range from active group games to arts and crafts, board games and free choice activities.

Not a resident, but a school employee - this was very generous of you and I know the parents who utilize you or who hear about this offering will be looking to you all in the future. Decatur is the perfect example of a community that works to support eachother - way to go!!
