It may be hard to believe, but jazz trumpeter Joe Gransden decided he'd rather perform for actor and director Clint Eastwood instead of a lunchtime crowd in the Decatur Court Square.
Gransden, an Oakhurst resident, was scheduled to play Wednesday at the last Blue Sky Concert of the spring.
But when the crowd of lunchtime office workers, senior citizens and moms with little kids spread their blankets and settled in, the band played without Gransden.
Members of Gransden's band said Gransden's friend Eastwood offered a lucrative gig in California he just couldn't turn down.
Saxophonist John Sandfort, who plays in the Joe Gransden Big Band, filled in and the show went on.
Eastwood is a jazz lover and dropped into Twain's in Decatur not long ago when Gransden performed there. Eastwood was in town making a movie, Trouble With the Curve.
