Decatur Gas Station Demolition Begins
The abandoned station on Columbia Drive will be converted into green space. On Tuesday, one of three underground storage tanks was unearthed.
Work crews have started demolition at the abandoned gas station on Columbia Drive that will be converted to green space.
On Tuesday, one of three underground storage tanks was unearthed. Crews also demolished the roofing that previously covered gas tanks.
The nonprofit East Decatur Greenway purchased the old station and will demolish it and turn about two acres into green space. The station is next to the Friends School of Atlanta.

it doesn't really matter for the purposes of the basic story, but, for what it's worth, this property is not in Decatur. It's a few hundred feet south of the city.
