Can Cynthia McKinney Win? Will She Affect The 2012 Presidential Race?
The former congresswoman is running for Congress as a Green Party candidate.
Cynthia McKinnney is back in the game.
The headline-generating politician is running again for her old 4th Congressional District seat, held since 2006 by the low-profile Hank Johnson. That district includes parts of Decatur, Avondale Estates and areas to the east of Decatur.
McKinney served six terms in Congress and has a knack for generating controversy, in and out of office.
For those of you who weren't paying attention, here are a few of the high points:
- In March 2006, a Capitol Hill police officer filed a complaint against McKinney, claiming she struck him with her fist. McKinney was never charged with any crime, though.
- In 2009 she was jailed in Israel for short time when the Israeli military stopped a ship she was aboard carrying supplies to the Gaza.
Things could get interesting.
Are you worried or excited about McKinney's re-entry into electroal politics? Could she win? In a broader sense, do you think she could have any effect on the 2012 presidental election?
