Bieber Fever Strikes Avondale!

Justin Bieber gave some Avondale Estates kids the thrill of a lifetime Monday afternoon.

The 17-year-old R&B singer and actor broke away from his filming duties -- he was making a public service announcement about the dangers of texting while driving -- to spend about 20 minutes with fans who'd gathered on the street to watch.

"He was really nice to come over and take pictures with us," said Hannah Lesser, 10, of Avondale Estates. "He didn't have to do that."

A video crew set up camp at the intersection of Clarendon Avenue and South Avondale Road earlier Monday, with several tents erected for the crew and a big RV parked on the side of the road.

Bieber arrived in a black Mercedes about 2 p.m. and immediately entered the RV. He wore shorts and a dark hat.

About 20 people, including some moms and dads, gathered at the intersection to try to catch a glimpse of the star. When it drizzled, they got under a bus stop for shelter.

Camera phones and digital cameras clicked busily when Bieber emerged from the bus about 3 p.m. and started working.

About about half an hour, the 17-year-old star approached the fans, many who heard about the filming of the PSA through a Facebook posting.

"He was super nice," said Holly Gault, who brought her son, Jackson, 8. "He posed for pictures with several kids from the neighborhood."

"Justin was super sweet to all his fans -- a really nice kid," said Suzanne Kosmerl.

Bieber happened to be in Atlanta because he played in the LudaDay Weekend Celebrity Baskeball Game, organized by Ludacris.

After meeting the fans, Bieber went back to work on the PSA for a little longer.
