Decatur Mayor Jim Baskett will give the annual State of the City speech Tuesday night at a meeting of the Decatur Business Association.

The meeting starts at 5:15 p.m. at the Courtyard Marriott at 130 Clairemont Ave.

This will be the first time since 1999 that somebody besides Bill Floyd has given this speech.

Floyd served as mayor all those years but resigned from the city commission a few weeks ago to take a consulting job.

The other city commissioners elected Baskett to be mayor. He had the most seniority and had been mayor pro tem 10 years.
