Avondale One of 'Gayest Zip Codes' In U.S.

The Washington Post and CNN Money say Avondale Estates is a popular and affordable haven for lesbians.

Two news reports confirm Avondale Estates' reputation as a popular place for lesbian couples to settle.

The Washington Post took information from Trulia, a real estate concern, and created a story on "the gayest zip codes." Avondale Estates ranked ninth in the county for female same-sex couples, with a 1.9 percent share of households.

Provincetown, Mass., was number one with a 5.1 percent share.

The CNNMoney report said the most popular neighborhoods for gay men in same-sex relationships in metro Atlanta were Morningside, Lenox Park and Piedmont Heights, which cost $129 per square foot.

Grant Park ranked as the "affordable alternative," with housing costs running $104 per square foot.
