Decatur, GA - Erbert & Gerbert’s has become the latest restaurant to embrace the gluten-free movement. The national sandwich chain, which has a franchise in Decatur, GA has launched a new gluten-free menu. The new menu has three gluten-free soups and a selection sandwiches made with Udi’s gluten-free rolls
“Before offering gluten-free menu items we researched how important it was to handle and serve gluten-free foods by speaking with industry experts as well as those who have been diagnosed with celiac disease to better understand what is important for those who require a gluten-free diet,” said Edward Andrist, Erbert & Gerbert’s Decatur’s CEO.
The focus will be on gluten-free versions of three existing sandwiches—a turkey breast sandwich called the Boney Billy, a ham and provolone sandwich called the Comet Morehouse and the vegetarian Jacob Bluefinger. The sandwiches will use six-inch Udi’s rolls certified by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization. Dedicated equipment will be used to avoid cross-contamination.
Customers will be able to substitute the gluten-free rolls on any sandwich for an extra charge, but those won’t be certified gluten free. Erbert & Gerbert’s will also continue to offer free delivery of it gluten-free menu items throughout Decatur/Atlanta area.
Two existing soups—cheddar cheese and broccoli and cheesy asparagus—have been remade as gluten-free recipes. The company is also introducing a third gluten-free flavor, French onion.
The gluten-free recipes have been sampled in seven markets across Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota.
