What was once a kudzu-covered eyesore was transformed into a community garden by DHS senior Anna Rose Gable. Anna Rose, now a student at Yale, worked to create a community garden at Decatur High School as her senior project. Parents and students continue to cultivate the garden, which now has dozens of gardeners, bees, fruit trees, rain barrels, compost piles and plans to grow. The organic garden needs volunteers to help remove weeds, plant and harvest, water garden beds and other chores. Don't know how to garden? Don't worry about it. We can show you what to do. You'll meet some friendly people, get some gentle exercise, and learn something about the earth when you join us. We honor the memory of Bruce Fabrick who helped get the garden started. Bruce died last December, and the garden is preparing plans in his honor.
